This website is a central resource which aims to support you with information and advice about your time spent in Cardiff, whether that’s moving from halls to a house, practical tips about living in your rented accommodation, health and safety, moving into the community or other helpful services and guidance.

It aims to stop the confusion caused by mixed messages so that we have a one stop website about living and studying in Cardiff.

On www.cardiffdigs.co.uk  is a guide to nive from halls to house, impartial housing advice about avoiding the pitfalls in the private rented sector. The website also contains useful information and practical tips about living in your private rented accommodation.

The linked poster ‘You’re in. Now what?’ has been produced to support community living. Please take a note of the advice and display this in your private rented property for everyone to see.

Remember:

Rubbish collection days:

WEDNESDAY – CATHAYS, CYNCOED, GABALFA, PENTWYN, PENYLAN, PLASNEWYDD (ROATH)

General waste is collected every fortnight, recycling in green council bags and food waste in food caddies is collected weekly. For all the information you need visit:

Cardiff Digs website

The Green Bag Scheme is a weekly collection of dry recyclables such as plastic bottles, cans and paper. These are collected in an official Council green bag. The green bags can be obtained from the student union, and Council buildings such as libraries and leisure centres.

Put rubbish out after 4:30pm the night before, or before 6am on the collection day and don’t let waste build up.

A wall makes a world of difference. Rubbish cannot be collected if left inside the boundary of your property i.e. in your garden. It must be placed on the pavement to ensure collection.

Tidy Text is a free texting service to remind you when your recycling bags and waste are being collected. Register by texting Tidy with your house number and postcode to 60066.

You could face a fixed penalty notice of £100 from the council if rubbish becomes an issue at your property. Rubbish should not be left in the front garden.

The website and information is produced by Kieran McCann working in partnership with the three universities; UWIC, Cardiff, and Glamorgan and Cardiff Council. All downloads are available and produced in Welsh on http://www.cardiffdigs.co.uk/
