Presidential Candidate:

Pippa Hancock

Hey, I’m Pippa Hancock and currently in my third year of Sport Management at UWIC.  I’m running for Student Union President for 2010/11, with the aim of making student life here more enjoyable.

So why should you vote for me?  Well, I’m an approachable individual and passionate about listening to student opinions.  I work hard at things I care about, I’m well organised (I have to be!) and I hate giving up on anything!  I love my sport, especially hockey and rugby. I’ve worked in various places while I’ve been at UWIC to supplement my student loan so I know how important (and difficult!) it is to balance your studies, your money and your social/sporting activities. And I do love to socialise . . !

I know that your time at University can be a brilliant time - especially if you have the right support when you need it. You can count on me to speak up for UWIC students and fight for the things that matter to you.

Talking to students from all the UWIC campuses, it seems that you sometimes feel too far removed from your SU, and I really want to work more closely with you so that your concerns and your views are reflected in what is happening in YOUR University.

Take a look at my manifesto, which gives you more idea of the issues I want to tackle next year and MAKE ME YOUR PRESIDENT.

Pippa Hancock's Manifesto

Make me your SU president to reconnect with your Students Union.  I am passionate about listening to your opinions and will work hard to make your life at UWIC more enjoyable.  The areas of student life I will focus on are:

• Unite students with their Student Union, making student opinions more easily heard.

• Improve the recreational and catering facilities on the UWIC Llandaff Campus.

• Help students make a smooth change from Colchester Avenue to Llandaff.

• Create and develop intramural sports teams.

• Introduce fitness classes on Campus’.

• Establish better links with graduate training schemes.

• Improve links with Sports Cardiff.

• Introduce a healthier eating option for catered students in halls of residence.

• Voice the student objections to the rise in tuition fees.
