?Cardiff Metropolitan University won the Most Improved Student Experience Award at last night's Times Higher Education Awards, held in association with Santander Universities.

This award was achieved based on student votes through the Times Higher Education's 'Student Experience Survey'.

Now in their tenth year, the Times Higher Education Awards are a highlight of the academic calendar, shining a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of institutions, teams and individuals in the UK higher education sector.

The Minister for Universities, Science and Cities, Greg Clark, joined academics and professional and support staff from all over the country to celebrate the pioneering spirit, adaptability and sheer quality of our institutions.

The glittering black-tie event, hosted by Jack Dee, also included awards for the Most Innovative Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Employer Engagement Initiative and University of the Year.

Their victory was witnessed by nearly 1,200 people who gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane for the awards last night.

John Gill, editor of Times Higher Education, said: "Our universities and colleges are among the nation's most respected institutions, both domestically and internationally, and it is THE's great privilege to have played a part in celebrating their achievements over the past decade. Long may it continue!"
