10 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses this BUCS Wednesday. 7 teams were involved in Trophy or Championship knockout fixtures with 5 successfully progressing to the next round.
Women's Netball 1st team stormed through to the Championship semi finals after beating Northumbria 1st team 56-24, they will now face Manchester 1st team at Home on the 11th of March. Women's Squash are also through to the BUCS semi finals after beating another of Northumbria's teams 4-1, their semi final sees them facing Bristol 1st on the 11th of March as well.
In Trophy competitions both Women's Football 2nd team and Women's Rugby 2nd team progressed into the Semi Finals. Women's Football 2nd's travelled to Southampton Solent 1st team to face the side that pipped them to the top league spot this season. Revenge was on the cards and an emphatic 6-2 win ensured the side a spot in the Semi Finals. Women's Rugby 2nd team beat Bath Uni 1st team 18-10 to book their spot in this years semi finals of the Trophy.
The Women's 1st team Tennis and 1st Football were both knocked out of their Championship's. The Women's Football 1st team faced a tough Birmingham side, and after a first half penalty saved by the Birmingham keeper the Archers couldn't find the net. A well taken corner by the opposition in the 2nd half found its way into the back of the net and knocked out our reigning champions, with a final score of 1-0.
Elsewhere there were several league fixtures taking place with most teams nearing the end of their league fixtures for this BUCS season. Men's Football had 3 teams in action securing 2 wins and 1 loss; the 3rd team beat Cardiff Uni 4th team 8-1, the 4th's lost 4-2 away to Aberystwyth whilst the 5th team beat SWP&C 5th team 3-0. Both Basketball Men's and Women's 2nd teams were in league action and took two wins from their fixtures. The men beat Bath Spa 1st team 75-60 while the women won by 7 against Gloucestshire 1st team 66-59.
Men's hockey 2nd team recorded a good win at home against Bristol in a 7 goal game, ending 4-3 to the Archers. Meanwhile the Ladies 1st team travelled to Loughborough where they lost 3-2 ending this years trophy run. The 2nd team drew 3-3 with Cardiff Uni 4th team and the 3rd team lost 2-0 to Bristol 4th team.
Netball 3rd team played the 4th team for the 2nd time this season in the league, after a bright start by the 4th team the 3rd team came out victorious winning 46-25 in a fast tempo and competitive match.
