Student Employee of the Year Award (SEOTY)

Being told Chloe and I were nominated for The Student Employee of the Year Awards (SEOTY) was such an honour and I was even more thrilled when we found out that we had won the on campus award. It felt amazing to work for an employer that recognized our hard work over this last year as we juggled our study commitments and a part-time job. I have worked especially hard on trying to boost our social media reach and impact, so being entered into the commercial impact category really was a testament to this project that I have been leading. I would not have been able to achieve half of this without my partner in crime, Chloe, who was also running her own projects from Llandaff campus. Working with the SU has also given me lots of opportunities to get involved in extra projects outside of work. One of my favourite experiences this year was holding a charity Salsa event with Chloe; we had so much fun hosting this and raising money for such great causes. I think I speak for both of us when I say we have had so much fun devising and executing new ways to increase footfall into the Students’ Union and increase engagement with students. It’s so rare to find an employer that not only understands how important your studies are, but also one that appreciates the work you do, and being nominated for this award speaks volumes for UMAX and the SU as employers. I am extremely sad to be leaving, but am so grateful and happy I had the experience of working here in my final year at Cardiff Met!
