Cardiff School of Education - 'What's Going On?'

Hey guys..

So here it is, the first official blog for Cardiff School of Education. This past couple of months has been the most manic time for myself, but it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I have made so many new friends and met some awesome people within the School of Education. This blog basically summaries what's been going on....

So, 16th September, the W.O.W. event...this is where it all really started for me as school representative. After a fun packed training with my fellow school reps at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium, I was finally able to introduce myself to students and begin recruiting course representatives. I was lucky enough to be invited along to the introductory lectures for all courses within the school and the response from students regarding becoming a course representatives as a result of these introductory talks was really positive. I'd like to mention that the staff within the School of Education have been nothing less than brilliant for myself throughout the process of course rep training; as a school I think we are extremely lucky to have such individuals teaching us! So, after what seemed like a lifetime, all course reps were recruited :) <<<< (happy face)!!! Course rep training was a great success at Llandaf on Saturday 26th October and it was great to meet some of the course reps, especially those from CSE.

A course representative fun day is TBA sometime soon!! This is going to be day starting in centro, going through some course rep related things, seeing how everyone got on at programme committee meetings etc. and then leading onto some sort of group activity...I need to get thinking! :)

Also, we held our first social event at Centro on Thursday 24th October...A HALLOWEEN PARTY. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the party and entertainment courtesy of jazz/funk band The Moonbirds topped off a successful night. My aim is to attract more students for our next social - hopefully to be held over Christmas time.

I guess that's kind of it for now, next step is a QAA focus group to be held this week, which I'm sure will be a success :)
