What’s Involved

All our activity staff are RESIDENTIAL and attend a training / induction weekend prior to commencement of duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attending an induction training weekend in June
• Following the Activity Manager Handbook and ensuring all policies and procedures are implemented and adhered too
• Planning and managing the Activity Programme and Liaising with the Teaching Manager to ensure a link with the academic programme.
• Ensuring the safeguarding of all students in line with the Anglo Safeguarding Policy. The welfare and supervision of students on activities will be the primary focus
• Setting up the centre, confirming the activity programme with the centre director / head office and checking equipment and facilities
• Guiding, supervising and motivating a team of activity leaders to ensure activities and excursions are run correctly and on time, this may involve being present at activities and on excursions if necessary
• Liaise with the ANGLO + teacher to design and deliver the ANGLO + programme (attractions, locations, entrances). This is an enhancement of the English learning program to ensure students are learning English language during specialist activities
• Confirming all facilities and booking details with external suppliers and venues
• Ensuring, through the Activity leader team that notice boards are correctly positioned to best promote the day’s events and that they are updated daily
• Planning and managing staff rotas to ensure the correct numbers of staff are on duty for each activity and ensuring each activity leader has the correct time off in accordance with their contract of employment
• Undertaking general administration, including submitting weekly timesheets to head office
• Carrying out an Activity Leader welcome meetings to include Safeguarding as well as regular Activity Leader observations and weekly review meetings
• Carrying out daily meetings with the Activity Leaders and providing guidance where needed
• Ensuring there are clear channels of communication always with the Centre Director, Teaching Manager, University Staff and Group Leaders
• Ensuring all Activity Staff are aware of the accident and emergency procedures, along with reporting incidents and accidents
• Ensuring a positive and fun working environment

Who we're looking for:

Essential:

At least one year of activity leader experience or similar
Able and confident to lead and motivate a team
Able to delegate tasks to ensure all deadlines are met
Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
Able to think on your feet, be proactive and work well in a team
Able to work in a high-pressure environment and adapt to changes at short notice
Approachable, creative, energetic and enthusiastic
Over 18 years of age
Based in the UK
Eligible to live and work in the UK
Native or native level English speaker

Desirable:

First Aid qualification
Experience working with young international students
Computer literate
Willingness to act as a Local Designated Safeguarding Person
UK Government Prevent awareness and training
Experience in leading / training a sports, leisure or similar team
Previous experience as a Manager
Experience working with young Students or children/teenagers
London Knowledge
Tour guiding experience
Enthusiasm for sight seeing

ANGLO offers English Summer Courses for 10-17 year-olds. We are accredited by the British Council for the Teaching of English in the UK, and our team has many years of experience in the EFL and Outdoor Activity Industries.

Our summer courses run for two to four weeks in June, July and August and are based at carefully selected university and college campuses across the UK, USA and Ireland.

Our students receive 17.5 hours of English language tuition each week together with the Anglo + Programme which ensures students make the most of their stay in the UK.

This combination helps to create a memorable programme of recreational activities and provide valuable additional opportunities for students to practise their English with new friends from around the world.
