Main Purpose of Job

 

Assist the QHS Leader in developing and maintaining the Company Quality, Health, Safety Management System ensuring we comply with legislation and law at all time.  The QHS Assistant will provide guidance to the organisation and supports the quality throughout the production process in conjunction with the QHS Leader.  This role will assist the QHS Leader to drive efficiency, cost, waste reduction, safety and quality via the use of Lean tools and techniques and communicating promptly with key departments throughout the business to ensure internal and external customer needs are met.

Qualifications/Skills/ Experience

 

  • Educated to A Level standard 
  • NEBOSH qualified or willing to work towards this qualification
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication Skills – Written/Verbal/Listening
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • IT Literacy
  • Ambitious, motivated, well driven

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general support and assistance to the QHS Leader.

 

  • Assist the QHS Leader with Health and Safety monitoring activities.

 

  • Assist the QHS Leader with the management of fire safety throughout the buildings.
  • Assist in Health and Safety audits and produce audit reports and follow up any actions.
  • Assist with the coordination and management of PPE and replenishment of stocks when required.
  • Provide clerical support during the Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Health & Safety Committee - Follow up with actions, minutes, agendas etc.
  • Gather, maintain and follow up on actions from the Observational cards/Near Misses.
  • Assist the QHS Leader to maintain and coordinate relevant training.
  • Assist in the identification of need and preparation of risk assessments, compliance and training of staff, with particular reference to amongst other; machine risk assessments, manual handling, working at height, and display screen equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the Gantt Chart Spreadsheet for all Health & Safety activities ie Safe Working Practices, Risk Assessments, Audits etc ensuring that all relevant aspects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct daily/monthly/quarterly/annual internal audits such Ladder Inspections, Legionella (Water Testing), Asbestos and write up necessary observations and reports as required.  Review and record checks on all fire exits, fire, fire equipment and fire signs, GUI and EStops.

 

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001.

 

  • Send out morning complaints email to all relevant staff and assist in the follow up of actions as required via the QHS Leader

 

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the H&S Management System to meet all legislative, regulatory and business requirements.

 

  • Prepare and maintain required Health & Safety/Quality records and reports.

 

  • Assist with the development and delivery of in-house training programs to ensure full understanding and commitment to QHS (Environment) processes.

 

  • Gathering suitable data and performing suitable analysis to ensure efficient and reliable running of the department.
  • Update the internal Health & Safety, Production and Quality notice boards on a monthly basis or as and when required.
  • Assist QHS(E) Leader as primary response to environmental incidents and complaints (e.g. Welsh Water)
  • All other administrative duties as required by the QHS Leader.
