Hello Musicians!
Penguin Instrumentors is a web based, intuitive music lesson service which has been developed by music graduates to help YOU - the bright, talented musicians of today and, in doing so, educate and inspire the musicians of tomorrow.
So, what are the benefits of being one of our Mentors:
The ultimate flexible schedule
Work as many or as few hours as suits you with our integration with Google Calendars. You set your working hours around your current workload or whatever other event student life throws your way. We just ask that you leave yourself available for 1 lesson per week.
A real living wage
Our wages are worked out through an innovative graduated payment scale which starts Mentors wages at £18 per hour though at just 3 lessons a week* you’ll already have stepped up to £20 per hour! The longer you stay with Penguin Instrumentors and the more you teach the more you’ll earn up to £25 per hour! We ask for our Mentors to be of at least a grade 8 equivalent with a solid handle on theory.
Perks benefit scheme
We have partnered up with Perkbox to offer our mentors a wide range of fantastic perks to help you through your time as a student. These include up to 8% off at many high-street shops, 5% off at a range of supermarkets, 50% off cinema tickets, 2-for-1 meals with Tastecard in many restaurants around the country, travel discounts, gym discounts, free mobile insurance... The list just keeps going!
Hassle free teaching
We make it our priority to ensure your lessons are a fun, productive environment that pupils & mentors can both enjoy and prosper in. This includes draft & template lesson plans, a collection of useful advice, hints and tips, safety and security safeguards, a starting guide for pupils and a standardised approach to beginner tutoring.
Fun and rewarding
Music is a fantastic creative outlet which enriches the world we live in, hence the reason you are reading this email. Why work doing anything else? Be rewarded for sharing music with the world and creating opportunities for others to express themselves through music.
We source pupils
We firmly believe your working time should be dedicated entirely to your lessons and not in advertising yourself as a teacher, posting flyers or composing adverts for the local papers or dedicating hours to meticulously crafting out a teaching schedule. With our booking interface the pupils find you! Just input your chosen availability on your own dedicated online calendar & receive notifications real-time as soon as a booking is made!
Industry References
Working as a Penguin Instrumentor gives you the opportunity to make a living doing something you love. Music. With our reference and feedback scheme this allows for you to build a reliable reputation as a musician with references and acknowledgments of your musicianship, something rare within the industry but also hugely valuable.
Free DBS checks
Criminal record checks are a great document to have which many job sectors ask for. Once we have run our mandatory checks on our mentors you’ll be free to take it with you for whatever life holds in store (usual costs around £60 but you’ll get yours free).
Potential for further engagement
Penguin Instrumentors will offer performance opportunities for both mentors and pupils every year in various locations around the country. We see these recitals as great opportunities for our mentors to inspire their pupils and the community whilst generating funds for charities to help give everyone an opportunity to learn an instrument.
Penguin Instrumentors is also part of a wider initiative, Penguin Soundtracks, which focuses on other aspects of professional musicianship and will be looking for talent from young musicians in the not too far future.
Penguin Soundtracks is a new, multifaceted media company. We were founded with the aim of providing students with employment, musical opportunities, references and experience within the music industry.
Our lessons are bookable through an real-time online booking interface which are designed to appeal to pupils of any age, level or interests. We also run Community Outreach programs, such as charitable concerts, which provide our employees with the opportunities to gain event organisation experience and perform in public with their pupils.
We offer a comprehensive benefits scheme, a high wage ranging between £18 – 25 per hour and flexible working hours that our employees can choose themselves, ensuring that work won’t interfere with studying. We also fund all of our employees to become enhanced DBS certificate holders.
