With student life being about so much more than just your studies we’re looking for an enthusiastic and engaging student who can make a real impact to the student experience and make a positive contribution to the Students’ Union. You will work closely with student societies helping them to engage new members and promote their activities. You will also support students to set up and run successful and exciting events and engage in volunteering opportunities.

The Societies and Activities Officer is responsible for supporting the non-academic development of the students by encouraging societies and social activities. They will help in coordinating the activities that societies are involved in, and will aim to facilitate student engagement in extra-curricular activities and provide administration support for societies.

Responsibilities

  • You will bring creative ideas to support SU staff in promoting existing student societies raising awareness and increasing membership whilst encouraging the formation of new societies

 

  • Undertake administrative duties for societies to include; room booking, guest speaker requests and maintaining records of committees and members

 

  • Play a key role in the training and support of society committees encouraging regular engagement with the Students’ Union to support their activities

 

  • You will support students to effectively plan and run student activities including social events and sports opportunities

 

  • To support the Students’ Union to organise and engage students in volunteering opportunities and to work in partnership with Student Volunteering Cardiff

 

  • Form positive working relationships with student representatives making effective use of the student rep structure to ensure all students are represented and well informed on issues relating to societies and social activities
