Societies and Development Coordinator
Cardiff Met SU are looking for an energetic and fast thinking new team member to take on an exciting opportunity to bring new ideas and develop student societies. As an integral part of the SU team you will work closely with student officers and will be responsible for supporting and developing student societies, ensuring their activities appeal to the University’s diverse community. This is a role where you will be communicating with a range of students and other stakeholders building relationships to increase student engagement and the profile of societies.
You will have the opportunity to grow the number of societies, implement and educate students on the operational policies related to societies and respond to the needs of our ever changing and diverse student population. You will find ways to empower students to express and share their interests and to enhance the student experience.
You will also have the opportunity to be involved in all aspect of developmental initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of the student experience across all our operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide support for the promotion, development and monitoring of student societies
- Identify, develop and facilitate areas where students could benefit from a new society or activity
- Provide support and guidance to students to set up and run effective societies
- Develop and deliver training for society committees to support them to effectively run their student group
- Undertake administrative duties relating to student societies including; room booking, vehicle hire and guest speaker approval procedures
- Act as a member of the Students’ Union team to support and promote SU initiatives, increasing student engagement and enhancing the student experience
- Help to organise the annual Student Achievement Awards
- Undertake research in HE Students Unions to identify potential development opportunities for the Students Union.
Person Specification
Essential
- Enthusiastic nature with experience of motivating others
- Understanding of student communities and opportunities
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience of engaging others in opportunities or activities
- Flexible approach to work hours (some evening & weekends may be required for specific events and activities)
Desirable
- Experience of delivering training
- Understanding of Students’ Unions
- Experience of promotion and marketing
