Wales Millennium Centre’s is committed to providing a world class customer experience to all visitors. Volunteers will be responsible for providing a welcoming, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly service within all venues at the Centre. Volunteers will work alongside Customer Experience Assistants in order to ensure that all visitors have an unforgettable experience.

The purpose of the Centre is to bring the best of the world to Wales and to showcase the best of Wales to the World.  Through our strategic goals, Create, Dream, Excel we aim to showcase the best of today’s talent, inspire tomorrows, and promote Wales through our cultural and creative work.

As a volunteer at the Wales Millennium Centre, you will be at the core of our customer experience. You will act as an usher and ensure health and safety standards are met within venues at the Centre. You’ll also get to watch the diverse range of shows as part of our ever increasing artistic programme.

We’re hoping that our volunteers will do on average 3 shifts per month, but if you’d like to spend more time with us the Centre, you are more than welcome to. Shifts tend to be no longer than 5 hours, and should they be any longer we will let our volunteers know.

Everyone is eligible to apply for a volunteering position, however we prioritise applicants from the Cardiff area.

If successful you will be required to attend an induction.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. To check theatre tickets.
  2. To check seating areas and evacuation routes are clear of obstacles.
  3. Know and follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  4. To supervise the audience during a performance taking appropriate action where necessary, e.g. asking patrons to stop taking photos or stop talking.
  5. To act as an evacuation marshal as and when required, assisting the Operations Manager to ensure that patrons evacuate the building in a safe and timely fashion.
  6. To assist patrons in finding their way round the building, answering queries and promoting a high level of customer service.
  7. To assist the team with other duties as and when required, such as seating latecomers.
  8. To embrace and adhere to the core values of the Centre.
  9. To give feedback to the management team to improve the running of the scheme.
