Buddy

Dimensions provides support for around 3,500 other people with learning disabilities and autism across the UK. We help them to live more independently and access their local communities.

We are looking for buddy’s who can commit to a couple of hours at least once a month for a minimum period of 6 months.  This is the perfect opportunity to give a couple of hours doing something you enjoy, and make friends along the way.  No specific experience is required, however experience with adults with disabilities would be desirable. 

When you apply for the opportunity you will be held in our buddy pool and then matched with someone who we feel you would both enjoy spending time together – please note this process may take a little time as we want to get the match just right.  Exact days and times will be agreed with the locality manager.

We would ask the volunteer to commit to attending their role on a regular basis – this could be once a week, every other week, once a month etc. Stability and routine are vital in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism. 

A DBS check will be required for this role. Two character references will also be required.

 Activities will include

• Supporting to attend activities of interest.
• Chatting and having fun.

Activities will not include

No financial assistance.

No personal care.
