Details

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

PAL will give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills that employers value: the ability to facilitate conversations, to communicate effectively, to plan thoughtfully and to self-reflect. Additionally, you will learn from the first-year students’ discussion to solidify concepts learnt last year. Your work as a PAL Leader will be also be recorded on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Record). The HEAR is designed to: be shared securely with others, for example with a potential employer or other higher education institution, thus enhancing future academic and employability opportunities.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR THOSE WHO ATTEND?

Studies have shown that students who attend PAL groups see lasting benefits even after they have left the scheme. They have the chance to develop lasting working relationships that can help them achieve better outcomes in their work. It encourages increased independence in study as well as increased motivation to complete the full course of study. Plus – it should be a chance to socialise, make mistakes and learn from them.

AM I THE RIGHT PERSON?

If you’re passionate about your subject, love getting to know others and like being creative, we want to hear from you. You’ll be supported by our PAL team and an academic member of staff to design engaging and meaningful sessions. Feel free to apply alone or with a friend from your programme. Email HAVEYOURSAY@cardiffmet.ac.uk to register your interest or ask any questions.
