Pyramid is a preventative programme for children of primary school age who have social and emotional needs. Pyramid identifies the quieter, more withdrawn child lacking in self-esteem who is often overlooked in the busy classroom environment. Up to twelve children are selected by their teachers to attend a Pyramid Club. These short-term therapeutic activity clubs take place once a week for ten weeks. The focus of the clubs is on building confidence and an improved sense of well-being, encouraging friendship skills and allowing the children to feel, perhaps for the first time in their lives, that they truly belong. They are a place for the children to take part in lots of activities and play games and have lots of fun! Club members develop through a range of activities including circle time (emotional literacy), games (group cohesion), arts and crafts (sense of belonging) and snacks (social skills).
