The weekend of 14th-16th November saw the annual BUCS Short Course Championships that took place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. The Cardiff Met team secured 9th place overall out of the 43 universities competing - the squads highest ever position and gained 67 BUCS points in the process.
An impressive team performance was achieved through great swimming throughout the team. A huge 21 personal best times were recorded by Cardiff Met individuals, and 16 finals reached in total.
Scholar and Olympian, Ieuan Lloyd had a weekend full of outstanding performances, getting Gold in the 200m Front Crawl with a PB time of 1:45:25, Silver in the 100m Backstroke and Bronze in the 100m Butterfly. On top of this Ieuan set a new BUCS record in the 200m Individual Medley final with a PB of 1:55:41 and claiming the 5th fastest time ever achieved by a British Male in this event. After such an impressive weekend Ieuan was also awarded Top BUCS male of the weekend - well deserved!!
