This week we caught up with one of our IMS SWISS Football players, Ryan Cross, he tells us what IMS is all about and how to get involved and how his first experience of IMS was.

Can you describe what SWISS Football is all about?

"To me, SWISS football is all about having fun with your friends with less emphasis on competition and more emphasis on enjoyment and playing some football with your mates, no matter what ability. Win, Lose or Draw it doesn’t matter as long as you are having some fun."

Why do you play in the SWISS Football league?

"I play in the SWISS league because I want to play football but I wanted to enjoy it without the pressures of a typical 11-a-side competition. I think it is a good way to relax with your friends, stay fit and play some decent football!"

What do you think are the benefits of playing an IMS sport?

"The benefits of playing an IMS sport are that you can meet some new people and it will definitely help you gain some friends in university. It is also a good way to stay fit and have a good time, whilst also having a little competitive edge as well ."

How did you get your team together?

"In the induction week we were in a talk about IMS sport and they mentioned 7-a-side to us, I was sitting next to three boys who seemed really keen to start a team! We all knew of one or two people who wanted to play, so we got together and decided what we were going to do and its going really well at the moment. It really has helped us settle into university."

How do you think your team will do in the league?

"I think we will do well in the league, hopefully! Most of us have played football since we were kids, and we have a few players who are a bit competitive! So i think we can finish quite high in the league."

Briefly describe what it was like on Wednesday, just a short summary of your matches?

"We turned up early and watched a game; I thought there was a nice, friendly atmosphere with people who are willing to help out. When we played, it was good fun and it went quiet well, we did win 8-2 so can’t really complain! But overall it was good and me and my team thoroughly enjoyed it and hopefully can do well in the IMS football league."
