Welcome to Cardiff Met AFL, where excitement and teamwork come together on and off the field! Since our men's team began in 2019 and the women's team joined in 2023, we've been continually growing. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a complete beginner, AFL is the perfect blend of rugby, football, and Gaelic football, offering a fun, sociable challenge for everyone. Game Layout:
Our teams compete in the National University League against Oxford, Birmingham and Cambridge Universities.
Each team competes in 3 tournaments, consisting of 2 x 40-minute games on the day, to try to qualify for the Grand Finals in March.
Games are 9-aside on a rugby pitch with rolling substitutions.
Tournaments:
Round 1 - In Cambridge
Round 2 - In Birmingham
Round 3 - In Cardiff
Round 4 - In Oxford
Fitzpatrick Cup - Hosted by Belfast University in Northern Ireland in March (UK and Irish university tournament)
Grand Final - Hosted by Cambridge
