Futsal has arrived at Cardiff Met!
Futsal is the FIFA recognised small sided version of football. Futsal originates from South America and is played in professional leagues across the world.
Futsal is a 5-a-side game that is played indoors, but unlike traditional 5-a-side, it is played with a heavier, leather ball to allow for closer control, this creates a quick and entertaining game which has the ability to develop new skills that you won't gain anywhere else.
Futsal at Cardiff Met has continued to grow year after year, and we’re now an established and ambitious club looking to push things even further this season. After a successful few years competing, we’re now part of the BUCS leagues, as well as the FAW Futsal League, where we face top sides such as Newport and Cardiff City.
Playing in both competitions gives players a fantastic opportunity to develop their technical ability and game understanding, while still being able to represent the university in Football BUCS if they wish. The high-intensity, fast-paced nature of futsal makes it perfect for improving decision-making, control, and fitness, key traits for any footballer.
This season, with a strong backroom team and plenty of momentum behind us, we’re aiming high, including the potential opportunity to qualify for the Futsal Champions League through the FAW competition.
Off the court, we pride ourselves on having some of the best socials around, bringing together players and supporters alike for great nights and lasting memories.
Whether you’re an experienced futsal player or completely new to the sport, now’s the perfect time to get involved and be part of something special at Cardiff Met!
