SU Annual General Meeting 25/26
On the 17th of November, over 250 students attended our annual general meeting. At this meeting we presented the SU’s annual report, finances and our affiliations for students to scrutinise and approve. This was the SU’s first quorate (100 people required in the room for the meeting to take place) AGM since 2012!
The AGM is one of the many opportunities' available to students to shape the SU’s behaviours and campaigns by submitting a motion. If passed, these motions can tell the SU to either; run a campaign to change the universities policies or mandate the SU to change their own practices.
You can find all the discussed items, minutes and papers here.
How the AGM Was Ran!
Students attending the AGM voted in favour to approve the SU’s accounts, annual report, appointment of auditors and affiliations.
We had a Special Resolution submitted to the AGM, which asked members to approve a set of new articles of association. These are an important document and outline how the charity is ran – it's the highest governing document within the SU! Students voted in favour to approve the new articles.
Accompanying the articles were a set of new byelaws which outlined new processes for students to shape behaviours at the SU, and for more transparency on how decisons were made. Students voted in favour to approve the new byelaws.
In total we had 6 student ideas submitted;

What happens next?
All the passed student ideas have been assigned to your Full-time Officers and are now enshrined in the Student Policy Handbook. This means that for the next 3 years the SU will champion these ideas and look to reach the resolutions.
Updates on progress towards these items will be routinely included in the officers' updates which can be found on their respective pages of the SU Website.
Once again, we’d like to thank everyone for attending and taking part in your student led democracy.
