Hello everyone,
My name is Vaishnavi Chopde, your go-to person for all things academics and wellbeing at Cardiff Met Students’ Union. I’m happy to welcome our January intake students — we’re so glad you’re here and can’t wait for you to feel part of the Cardiff Met community 💙
❄️ A quick January check-in
January in Cardiff can be cold, wet, and gloomy, so please remember to look after yourselves. Wrap up warm, stay hydrated, eat well, and don’t hesitate to slow down when you need to. Your wellbeing matters just as much as your studies. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, support is always available — you’re never alone.
📅 What’s coming up?
SU Refreshers’ Fair – 3rd February
A great opportunity to meet services, societies, and teams that are here to support you throughout your journey. Hope to see you there!
☕ Take a Break, take a Brew
The Students’ Union is also hosting “Take a Break, take a Brew”, a relaxed drop-in session for all Cardiff Met students.
🕐 1:00 – 3:00 PM
It’s a casual catch-up — come along, grab a drink, have a chat, and take a well-deserved pause from your busy schedules.
🚌 Manifesto Win – Big Travel Update!
I’m proud to share that one of my key manifesto points has been achieved 🎉
A new 64 bus route has been introduced from the City Centre to Western Avenue, making daily travel much easier for students.
Additionally, bus routes 1 / 1A / 2 / 2A will now run every 30 minutes, improving accessibility and reliability.
✍️ Student Voice in Action
I’ve also written an article on mitigating circumstances, focusing on why trust should be at the heart of university policies. If this topic affects you or you want to understand it better, do give it a read:

As always, I’m here for you. If you have academic concerns, ideas, or just want to talk things through — please reach out. Your voice matters, and together we can keep making Cardiff Met a better place for students.
See you around campus!
