Your 2026-27 Sabbatical Officer Team!
A new academic year brings new opportunities, and we're excited to welcome your newly elected Sabbatical Officers. They have officially started their roles and are ready to represent your voice, champion positive change and make student life even better for everyone at Cardiff Met.
Each President has a clear vision for the year ahead, with priorities shaped by what students told them matters most.
Muskaan Ali - SU Activities & Communities President
This year, Muskaan will focus on creating a more connected and inclusive student community. Priorities include improving access to study and social spaces, introducing easier booking systems for clubs and societies, and working to make food on campus more affordable through initiatives such as cheaper meal options and student support schemes.
Muskaan will also be working closely with sports clubs and societies to increase their visibility, encourage collaboration across campuses, strengthen committee support and training, and ensure all activities are welcoming, safe and inclusive for every student.
Suzann George - SU Education & Welfare President
Improving the academic experience and student wellbeing is at the heart of Suzann's plans. Key priorities include increasing access to lecturers through clearer office hours, working with the University to provide timetables earlier and reduce long gaps between lectures, and improving mental health and welfare support.
Alongside the University, Suzann will also campaign for shorter counselling wait times and deliver wellbeing initiatives throughout the year during key periods such as Welcome Week, assessments and deadlines.
Ashhar Khan - SU Experience & Inclusion President
Creating a stronger student voice and ensuring every student feels represented are the main goals for Ashhar in the year ahead. Plans include launching a regular "You Said, We Did" update and a new Student Voice Hub where students can raise ideas, share concerns and track progress.
Ashhar will also champion inclusion through cultural events, listening sessions and improved support for international and transnational education (TNE) students. They will also focus on employability by exploring more on-campus job opportunities, hosting a jobs fair and developing new student leadership programmes.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, Muskaan, Suzann and Ashhar will be working together with students, staff and the University to turn these priorities into action. Keep an eye on our SU website and social media channels for regular updates, opportunities to get involved and to see how your feedback is helping shape the student experience.
Here's to an exciting year ahead!
