Starting a New SU Society 2026/27 Guidance
Is there a society you would LOVE to see? Why not start your own?
Starting a new society is easy. All you need is an idea, students who are keen to get involved, and time to invest to develop and grow the society.
To be ratified for 2026/27 term, Societies require 10 student members, three of whom will step forward as the three core Committee members: President/Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.
These details will be recorded in a Starter Form, which can be found on the SU Societies Resources page. New Starter Form Societies (SU Society Resources)
If your Society meets these requirements, their Starter Form will be taken to the next student forum. Here, our student officers will vote on whether to re-ratify the Society.
You will also get support from the SU in the shape of:
- Full Committee Training
- Continuous advice and support
- Use of our facilities and venues
