Details

We are looking for volunteers to assist at one of several out-of-school learning sessions which support the learning of primary age children from the Butetown and Grangetown areas of Cardiff and aim to boost their confidence and enjoyment of learning.

Teaching assistants provide support to the child’s learning while they participate in either one-to-one learning activities or group activities. Examples might be reading with a child, being on their team in a group game, or helping them with the current project when being taught by a teacher addressing the whole group. No prior experience is necessary, though any that is relevant is welcomed.

Volunteers will attend one weekly session on either Wednesday evening, Thursday evening or Saturday mornings.

Founded in 2006, ACE Cardiff has been running learning sessions since February 2010. Along with our partner organisations, we help an average of around 65 children each week. Our volunteers range from students, including those from local colleges and Cardiff Universities, to professionals and retirees from all walks of life.
