Swyddog yr Iaith Gymraeg UM – Welsh Part-Time Officer

Ydych chi’n fyfyriwr rhagweithiol ac angerddol sydd â diddordeb yn y Gymraeg a diwylliant Cymraeg? Ydych chi eisiau herio UM a’r Brifysgol mewn modd cadarnhaol i wneud mwy dros fyfyrwyr cyfrwng Cymraeg? Mae UM Met Caerdydd yn chwilio am fyfyriwr hoffus a brwdfrydig a fydd yn dod â syniadau newydd i ddenu sylw myfyrwyr cyfrwng Cymraeg, eu cynrychioli, a dwyn cymuned Met Caerdydd ynghyd. Bydd Swyddog yr Iaith Gymraeg UM yn gyfrifol am gynrychioli barn a diddordebau myfyrwyr cyfrwng Cymraeg, yn gweithredu fel pwynt cyswllt allweddol ar gyfer myfyrwyr sy’n astudio trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg ac yn datblygu syniadau, prosiectau a gweithredu newydd yn UM. Bydd hefyd yn creu cysylltiadau â thîm Iaith Gymraeg y Brifysgol i ddarparu gwybodaeth a chyfeirio lle bo angen. 

Bydd Swyddog yr Iaith Gymraeg UM yn ein helpu ni i yrru newid a gweithredu mentrau newydd fel rhan o dîm o Swyddogion Rhan-Amser UM, sy’n ceisio creu Met Caerdydd gwell i bob myfyriwr. Byddwch yn defnyddio eich diddordebau a’ch gwybodaeth eich hun i chwarae rhan allweddol yn y gwaith o lywio’r newidiadau pwysig sy’n cael eu gwneud yn y maes hwn ac yn defnyddio adborth myfyrwyr i greu ymgyrchoedd a mentrau ar gyfer myfyrwyr.

Cyfrifoldebau: 

• Fel cynrychiolydd myfyrwyr Cymraeg, byddwch yn gweithio i nodi cyfleoedd newydd i ymwneud ag UM ac i ganiatáu cyfle cyfartal gyda gwasanaethau presennol trwy gydol taith y myfyrwyr. 

• Cynrychioli UM mewn cyfarfodydd a phwyllgorau perthnasol. 

• Meithrin perthnasoedd gweithio cadarnhaol â chynrychiolwyr myfyrwyr gan wneud defnydd effeithiol o strwythur Cynrychiolwyr UM i sicrhau bod barn myfyrwyr Cymraeg yn cael eu cynrychioli a’u defnyddio mewn gwaith prosiect a gweithredu. 

• Byddwch yn gweithio i gefnogi’r GymGym er mwyn cynnig cymuned i fyfyrwyr Cymraeg ledled y Brifysgol a chodi proffil y gymdeithas a’r cyfleoedd ar gyfer ymgysylltu â hi. 

• Trwy ddatblygu perthnasoedd gweithio cadarnhaol ag Uned y Gymraeg, byddwch yn gwella’r sianeli cyfathrebu ac adborth rhwng myfyrwyr, yr adran ac Undeb y Myfyrwyr. 

Are you a proactive and passionate student with an interest in Welsh language and culture? Do you want to positively challenge the SU and University to do more for Welsh medium students? Cardiff Met SU is looking for an engaging and enthusiastic student who will bring new ideas to engage and represent Welsh language students and bring the Cardiff Met community together. The UG Swyddog yr Iaith Gymraeg will be responsible for representing the views and interests of Welsh language students, will act as a key point of contact for students studying in the medium of Welsh and develop and new ideas, projects and activism within the SU. They will also form links with the University’s Welsh Language team to provide information and signpost where necessary. In this role, you will work closely with other Part-Time Officers, School Reps and the full-time elected student officer team. 

The UG Swyddog yr Iaith Gymraeg will help us to drive change and implement new initiatives as part of the SU Part-Time Officer team who look to create a better Cardiff Met for all students. You will draw on your own interests and knowledge to play a key part in shaping the important changes being made in this area and use student feedback to create campaigns and initiatives for students. 

Please note the successful candidate will not hold employee status with the Students' Union but will receive a monthly bursary of £100 between September and June as award for undertaking this representative position. 

Responsibilities: 

• As a representative of Welsh speaking students you will work to identify new opportunities to engage with the SU and to allow equality of opportunity with existing services throughout the student journey 

• Represent the SU at relevant meetings and committees 

• Form positive working relationships with student representatives making effective use of the SU Rep structure to ensure Welsh speaking student views are represented and utilised in project work and activism 

• You will work to support the GymGym Society to offer a community to Welsh-speaking students across the University and raise the profile of the society and the opportunities for engagement. 

• By developing positive working relationships with the Welsh Language Unit, you will improve channels of communication and feedback between students, the department and the Students' Union.
