Hours

37 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm Friday

Details

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To deal with telephone and personal visit enquiries regarding accommodation from students, landlords and other interested parties.

2. Assisting in the maintenance of manual and computerised records – students and landlords.

3. General office duties, including: Photocopying, filing, processing of incoming and outgoing mail, faxing, word processing/data input as and when required.

4. To ensure the regular supply and updating of Accommodation Service literature.

5. To provide assistance to the Accommodation Services Manager and Deputy Accommodation Services Manager when required, including assistance with the administration of UWIC Rider Bus passes and promotion during Fresher’s week.

6. To provide office cover in the absence of the Accommodation Officer, and / or Halls Reception cover at Cyncoed or Plas Gwyn campuses occasionally as and when required.

7. Any other such reasonable duties which are required for the effective performance of activities within the Accommodation Services Department

 

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of 3 GCSE or equivalent (including Maths and English)
  • Working knowledge of IT systems including Word processing, Access database, and Excel Database
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations.
  • Good organisational ability.
  • Ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a larger team.
  • Pleasant telephone manner.
  • Ability to calm a difficult situation or customer (Student or parent)
  • Team work
  • Communicate with internal departments and with people at all levels
  • Experience of working in a customer orientated environment.
  • Experience of dealing with the public.
  • Experience of working in an administrative environment and with administrative systems
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours
  • Ability to work occasional weekends

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to prioritise own work with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of working in a University environment
  • Word processing skills
