Your Student’s Union has recently attended the 70th anniversary of the ACUI Region VIII conference at the University of New Hampshire. An annual conference that we attend to learn, discuss and share ideas amongst fellow Student Unions from the UK, Ireland, Canada and USA. This year Vice President Keira Davies, and Web Designer and Communications Coordinator, Carwyn Thomas were there to represent Cardiff Met Students Union.
As part of the conference we also attended a pre-conference program of campus visits, including McGill University & Champlain College, both in Montreal, Canada. We also visited the Middlebury College, the University of Vermont, Dartmouth College & the University of New Hampshire. We were amongst 24 international employees and sabbatical officers of UK and Irish Universities attending the conference including Limerick Student Life, Mary I Students Union, Dublin City Students Union, Maynooth Students Union, University of Lincoln Students Union, Students Union Royal Veterinary College London and Westminster Students Union.

This was an invaluable learning experience and has provided many ideas to discuss and incorporate to improve your Student’s Union here at Cardiff Met as we continue to support and improve our campus community.
