The club fees are for the 2019/20 academic year. Fees are set by the club and are subject to change the following academic year.
Cardiff Met Equestrian Team welcomes all students with a minimum of 1 years previous riding experience, who want to develop their skills and compete. We are associated with Cardiff University Polo Club who welcome all students of all levels.
The club trains on Wednesday’s at Triley Fields Equestrian Centre, in Abergavenny working on both flat work and show jumping.
We run two BUCS teams - those who are not selected also train with the BUCS team and have the opportunity to compete throughout the year in friendly inter-uni competitions and other events.
The BUCS competitions are unique and unlike most traditional equestrian competitions as all riders are competing on borrowed horses (so there’s no need to worry if you have not got your own!). Within BUCS, we are in a league with Cardiff University, Swansea University and Aberystwyth University. The competitions are hosted by each home team one and consists of two phases; dressage and show jumping. A combined score from each discipline makes up the final results with team and individual prizes awarded. The winning team of each league goes forward to regional finals along with the two best scoring individuals that are not on the winning team.
In the last few years, Cardiff Met and Cardiff University have come together to create Wales' biggest student polo team.
Lessons are available twice a week at Longdole Polo Club and caters for all levels, from those who have never sat on a horse to the most experienced players.
Our highlights last year include a friendly inter-uni competition with Cardiff University and attending the annual Cardiff Met Sports Awards. On top of this, we run an annual fundraiser for a charity selected by our team members for all the team to get involved in.
The fees for 2018/19 are £99 and include all lessons, transport and competitions.
All members are required to submit a 'New Rider Form' and 'New Pupil Form' before attending trials or training. These can be accessed via the team's private Facebook group or via email upon request.
