Rugby Union - Women


The club fees are for the 2023/24 academic year. Fees are set by the club and are subject to change the following academic year.

 

Cardiff Met Women's Rugby Club are 10x BUCS champions!

Cardiff Met W Rugby run two teams. The 1st Team competes in the BUCS Women’s National League (WNL) and the 2nd Team competes in the Western 1A League. The club also enters both BUCS Champ and Prem 7s competitions after the 15s season closes. Many Cardiff Met players go on to represent their regions [England and Wales] and country [U20 and Senior] whilst studying, and these players are supported fully to perform at the highest level.

The Women’s Rugby Club is one of the university’s Performance Sports. Within the club players are identified and placed in a High-Performance Group allowing them to achieve the highest standards while having the additional support of Strength and Conditioning programmes, Athlete Lifestyle Support, Nutritional Support and Medical Support.

 

Training at Cardiff Met

Team Training - takes place Monday (6-7pm) and Friday mornings (7-8:30am).

Skills Training – takes place on a Wednesday morning [10-12pm] when BUCS fixtures are not scheduled.

All Strength and Conditioning sessions are organised and supervised by Cardiff Met Strength and Conditioning Team and are flexible around the academic timetable.

 

Socialising at Cardiff Met

The Women’s Rugby section has an active social program that fits around the playing and training commitments.  The Rugby club is an inclusive environment as offers many social events that are planned throughout the year.

 

 

Membership Benefits

Your membership fees contribute to the running of the club.  This means all transport, playing fees and officials fees for additional club fixtures outside of BUCS are paid for through your membership. All players will also have the opportunity to review their performances through the support of Performance Analysts .  Those players selected for the High-Performance group also get membership to all fitness facilities at Cardiff Met in addition to the specialist Strength and Conditioning coaching and facilities.

In order to process and activate your membership, your name, student number and any additional information you are required to provide to participate in your sport will need to be made available to the SU, committee members of the clubs you wish to join and external organisations where appropriate. Your details will be used to effectively manage your membership and communicate relevant club, fixture, social event information to you.
