The club fees are for the 2019/20 academic year. Fees are set by the club and are subject to change the following academic year.
Cardiff Met Women's Rugby Club are 10x BUCS champions!
Cardiff Met Women’s Rugby Club run two teams that compete in BUCS Premier South (1st team) and Western 1A (2nd team) Competitions. Furthermore, the club enter various Rugby 7's tournaments throughout the year including the BUCS 7's of which they won in 2012-13. Cardiff Met Women’s rugby have won the BUCS championships several times over the past five years, making them the most dominant team in women’s university rugby history. Many Cardiff Met players go on to represent their regions [England and Wales] and country [U20 and Senior] whilst studying, and these players are supported fully to perform at the highest level.
The Women's Rugby Club is one of our Focus Sports within the Students' Union who have been identified as a high performance club and under the guidance of the Performance Director aim to achieve the very highest standards. Focus Sports benefit from additional funding which includes a number of funded gym memberships and access to all sports facilities for focus athletes, strength and conditioning, nutritional support and discounted physiotherapy.
Training at Cardiff Met
Team Training - takes place Monday (6-7:30pm) and Friday evenings (6-8pm). Players meet on NIAC balcony prior to training, which takes place on the infield.
Skills Training – takes place on a Wednesday afternoon [2-4pm] when BUCS fixtures are not scheduled.
Strength and Conditioning – takes place on a Monday AM (circuit), Tuesday AM (weights), Thursday AM (pool recovery) and Friday PM (weights). These sessions are for (a) players selected for the focus group or (b) the whole squad.
All Strength and Conditioning sessions are organised and supervised by Cardiff Met Conditioning coach, Dai Watts.
Socialising at Cardiff Met
The Women’s Rugby section has an active social program that fits around the playing and training commitments. Regular events on the social calendar are pub golf, Christmas dinner, gangsters and many other themed nights out.
Your membership fees contribute to the running of the club. This means all transport, playing fees, after-match meals and officials fees for additional club fixtures outside of BUCS are paid for through your membership. In addition you get access to discounted physiotherapy. All players will also have the opportunity to review their performances through the support of our notational analyst. Those players selected for the focus group also get membership to all fitness facilities at Cardiff Met in addition to the specialist Strength and Conditioning coaching and facilities.

In order to process and activate your membership, your name, student number and any additional information you are required to provide to participate in your sport will need to be made available to the SU, committee members of the clubs you wish to join and external organisations where appropriate. Your details will be used to effectively manage your membership and communicate relevant club, fixture, social event information to you.
