Don’t be hesitant, vote Della for Vice President
Hi everyone, my name is Della Hill. I am currently a third year English and Drama student from the School of Education and I am running to be your Vice President.
Since September, I have worked within the SU as the Student ‘Global Coordinator’ so I have had an insight to the way Union operates. Within this role, I am responsible for creating pilot schemes to benefit international students especially, but I am now ready to help out all students.
Throughout the course of my role, I have been able to speak to numerous students about the satisfaction within the university. Although I receive mostly good points, there are a few things here and there I feel could be tweaked to benefit us all. So, let’s cut to the point – this is my manifesto.
I would like to:
- Record certain lectures so students can have access to the vital information
Do you ever walk out of a lecture and forget a valid point you were told? Wouldn’t it be perfect to be able to access the spoken information whilst doing your assignment? I will ask lecturers to record vital sessions and send it to the students who have attended so information is easily accessed and instead of making notes, students can listen.
- Increase University organised trips relevant to study
It would be beneficial for students to have the option to go on trips and have the opportunity to learn outside the academic environment. Whether these are in Cardiff or outside of the City, at least one trip each year offered to students would be another way to get the most out of the course.
- Introduce ‘opt-in’ email services to avoid spam to student emails
Instead of searching through your inbox for that one emails that actually is relevant to you, the ‘opt-in’ service would allow you to choose the departments you receive them from.
- Improve communications between Cardiff Met and Cardiff Bus service regarding the timetables
At the moment, I feel the bus timetables do not match the student needs. I am going to change this, making the bus service easier for students to enjoy.
These are my four main aims to tackle if I was Vice President. If you would like to see these changes, you know what to do!
