Work Placements and Networking
Links with external organisations to allow students more opportunities for work placements as well as more networking events so students can meet and connect with prospective employers for jobs, further studies such as PhDs.
Work with the International office to promote more work placements abroad through the Erasmus scheme since every student is eligible to study/work abroad.
An Active and Vibrant Students' Union
Better communication and advertisement from the Students' Union. When I went around asking fellow students what they would like to change in the SU, a lot of people mentioned that they were not really sure what the Students' Union does. The SU is here to represent and support you. I plan to be very active in promoting the services the Students' Union offers as well as being more visible so students can actually feel a part of the Students' Union. After all the STUDENTS' union is for every single STUDENT!
Hosting Exclusive Non-Competitive Sporting Events
Have inter course/school leagues so those who do not want to play/compete in bucs leagues.
Longer gym opening times so students can actually use it when they are free such as evenings, weekends and holidays. If you are paying for it, it might as well be open so you can open it when you are free.
Frequent Social Events that Cater to Different Tastes
We are lucky that we have two SU bars and these can be used for many events. We have many talented individuals here who can plan amazing events for everyone.
Unity Between the 5 Schools and 2 Campuses
More interactions and communications between the schools and campuses. Yes, there are two campuses but we are one university so it is important that we all feel part of the same team. I plan to work with the lead reps of each school to find ways to unite everybody.
Food
Healthier food and cheaper food on both campuses so it’s more reasonable for students. More varied menu to appeal to different tastes after all variety is the spice of life. Microwaves for those who bring their own food.
