Who am I?
I am Yzzy Taylor, I am a Masters Student studying Sports Coaching and I am running for the position of Vice President of the Students' Union.
Why you should vote for me!
My main aim is to create a strong sense of togetherness within our University. Although our Students' Union and the student body have been developing its sense of cohesion, I am a strong believer that through improving our services within the Students' Union such as social nights in both campus bars and facilities, we could finally create a feeling of inclusiveness. If I was to be appointed this role I would ensure all students were having a more fulfilled and rich experience of this aspect of their university life. EVERY STUDENT DESERVES THIS!
University can be a tough and daunting environment at times. Either socially, economically or emotionally. Unfortunately, I can’t offer you free money, or promise to be your best friend, BUT I want to make sure that our Students' Union is there to help you deal with these barriers, by focusing on new and improved methods to help you combat your issues. Such as cutting the costs for parking, washing and tumble drying etc.
My aim for our students in our Students' Union is to ensure that everybody feels comfortable and confident in reaching out to the best possible service to help them as an individual. I want to change the attitude of the Students' Union from how some perceive it as an alien organisation to OUR organisation.
One of my main projects I would like to action if placed in the role is the creation of a website/ social platform, where all students can promote their activities and engage with others about the amazing things we as students are doing across both campuses!
I have experience working with businesses and community projects around Cardiff. I would like to continue this whilst also improving mentoring links for all students. Even if this just consists of giving students the opportunity to pick the brains of successful business professionals.
Having been part of this university for five years I have seen many changes and I have seen what is and isn’t successful within our university. Due to this experience, I feel that I can continue to add to our successes meaning that I really am the right candidate for the job of Vice President.
