ACE runs an after-school learning club, supporting the academic learning and life skills development of children of primary and secondary school age living in Butetown, Riverside and the surrounding areas of Cardiff. Sessions are offered in Science, English and Mathematics as well as a homework drop-in for Key Stages 4 and a further session focusing on literacy and numeracy for those in Years 3 & 4 who need additional support in these basic areas.

There are a many positions available in The Learning Club - gain fantastic experience with working with disadvantaged children in Cardiff either as a tutor or tutor assistant.

 ACE offers training, especially in Child Protection, Behaviour Management and Tutor Skills. You will require a DBS criminal record check for this role. ACE Cardiff will apply for this on your behalf and there will be no cost to you.

The positions are ideal for those who might be considering teaching as a career as they offer practical experience and a useful addition to the CV.  You may just want to gain some practical experience as well as giving something back to society.  Whatever the reasons, they would like to hear from you.

 

Person Specification

To be a tutor, you should either be educated to at least Grade A – C at ‘A’ level in a relevant subject and have some formal or informal teaching experience.  As a teaching assistant you just have to enjoy working with – and helping disadvantaged children.

You should be appropriately literate and numerate in order to set a positive example, evidenced by academic record and/or employment record and at interview.
