Exciting opportunities have arisen with a fast growing, forward thinking security and crowd management company based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. We are recruiting for the position of Crowd Safety Stewards to work at a range of events within the UK.

Job role: Crowd Safety Stewards work as a vital part of the Vespasian Security crowd management teams. Deployed to festivals, music concerts, country shows, race tracks and stadium events, Crowd Safety Stewards work in such areas as ticket checking teams, gate entry locations, front-of-stage pit barriers, information points, wristband check locations and back stages areas. Working closely within a large team, all Crowd Safety Stewards must be able to adapt swiftly to the changing demands of an event or deployment.

Crowd Safety Stewards provide the company’s friendly and welcoming face of events, focusing on customer service and assistance.Working as a Crowd Safety Steward is perfect for those wanting to help others in a fun environment. Crowd Safety Stewards work to deliver correct and up to the minute information to event attendees. Watching for any possible signs of distress within a crowd and responding to emergencies by the guidance of customers to a point of safety. Maintaining good working relationships with all of the Vespasian team, Crowd Safety Stewards are able to marshal and direct large numbers of customers to areas they need to access during both ingress to a site, circulation around a site and egressing from an event.

The crucial teamwork displayed by Crowd Safety Stewards enables the Vespasian team as a whole to work together to improve crowd safety and security at the events at which they are deployed.

Crowd Safety Stewards: Job Duties

· Welcoming our client’s customers and providing full information regarding the event to those asking questions.
· Attending event specific briefings
· Completing all incident reports relating to incidents identified to the Event Control Room/Supervisor/Manager
· The use of two way radio communication devices
· Managing crowds to avoid distress and crushing
· Collecting tickets from customers
· Dealing with emergencies
· Supervising customers as they leave the an event
· Co-operating with police and other emergency stakeholders
· Ensuring high levels of personal presentation to project a sense of calm and professional authority
· Accurate completion of timesheet and incident book
· Appropriate use and care of Vespasian equipment including uniform

Skills/Qualifications
· Successfully passing screening and vetting in line with British Standard 7858.
· A good level of physical fitness
· The ability to make decision quickly
· Good powers of observation

Working hours

Hours of work will depend on the opening times of the venue where you are deployed. During the summer festival season Crowd Safety Stewards can typically work between 10-18 hours per day over the course of a 3-4 day weekend. Typically Crowd Safety Stewards have the opportunity to be deployed every weekend within a month during the summer period (June-Sept inclusive). A limited number of events are available to work in May and Oct each year.


Start date will be issued upon successful passing of the interview and referencing stages.
