• This post will run from September – December 2018 (one term), although there is a possibility that the contract may be extended further. • Shifts will be 2 – 3 days per week, working 10am – 4pm

Details

Work alongside your studies for a term and gain varied experience developing your skills for your future career. Working on the front desk in a busy office you will be the first point of contact, welcoming students, staff and visitors and helping with their enquiries regarding the SU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage enquiries in a pleasant manner from all individuals coming into the office – ranging from staff members, students and members of the public. You will be professional and polite to everyone walking through the door
  • Assist at events across the University to engage with students including Freshers Fayre.
  • Supporting your Student’s Union  in all administrative requirements relating to the service including communicating over the telephone, email and face to face
  • To develop the engagement and interactivity between students and the SU.

Alongside the key responsibilities, the Assistants may also be involved in the administration and support of additional SU areas, for example:

  • SU Societies
  • Employability Workshops
  • SU Volunteering

 

Person Specification:

  • You must be a current Cardiff Met Student for 2018/2019
  • You must have excellent knowledge of the SU services and structure
  • A good knowledge of Llandaff campus is required, but you do not have to be a student who is based at this campus.
  • Confident communication skills being both polite and professional  
  • An individual who is passionate about helping students at Cardiff Met University
  • You must be proficient in using Microsoft Office (word/excel/outlook)
  • Enthusiastic and adaptable to perform all tasks to a high standard
  • Effective time management skills to work efficiently in busy periods
