Cardiff Met Students’ Union is excited for Freshers’ Week in a big way! Are you?!

Do you have what it takes to work for your Students’ Union to help fresher’s settle in and show them what we do here at Cardiff Met?


The Role: 

  • Provide a friendly, reassuring and knowledgeable presence to students, staff and visitors during the Fresher’s period.
  • Provide any information they might need, answering any questions students or visitors might have and accurately advise/signpost them on where they can access services and support.
  • To have an extensive knowledge of Cardiff Metropolitan Students’ Union.
  • Encourage them to get involved in Students’ Union activities and events.
  • Encourage students to make friends, have fun and most importantly stay safe.
  • Be effective ambassadors for the Students’ Union, acting as a link between us and the students.
  • Provide assistance to Students’ Union staff as and when required depending on the activity or event you are working on.
  • Share your experiences of being a Cardiff Metropolitan University student, passing on top tips for making the most of their time at Cardiff Met and in Cardiff.
  • To lead bespoke campus tours of both Cyncoed and Llandaff. (Training given)
  • To lead bespoke city and appropriate district and community tours. (Training given

Cardiff Met SU are looking for current students with strong people skills and the confidence to approach fellow students and start up a conversation! You will be part of a fun working environment, promoting the SU, its events & services and be a general point of contact over the Fresher’s period!

  • Prior engagement in Fresher’s activities.

You will be required to work as a team and should be alert to any problems that new students commonly experience. You will be expected to know where students are able to go to address these problems and signpost accurately. You will be expected to provide clear and concise information; however, we do not expect you to provide advice or counselling and if any student wishes to access this then direct to Student Services.
