UWESU is recruiting a Student Employment Coordinator to work in the Students’ Union Jobshop on the Frenchay campus at the University of the West of England.

Previous experience of working in an employment related organisation is not essential, but we are looking for a friendly, approachable and professional individual with experience of working with a wide range of people, especially students.

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop this successful service.

 

Purpose & Dimensions of the post:
1. To source part time employment opportunities from local employers and promote  these to all UWE students;
2. To provide a skills bank to UWE students;
3. To provide a recruitment service for student staff to UWESU and UWE.


Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To market the Jobshop to external employment providers;
2. To liaise with UWE and UWESU staff over their student staff requirements;
3. To promote part time employment opportunities to all UWE students;
4. To ensure all required paperwork in place for UWESU student staff;
5. To gather information to form a skills bank;
6. To promote the skills bank to internal and external employers.

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To monitor and update the Jobshop website and other communication methods including social media;
2. To advertise current vacancies via the email database on a weekly basis;
3. To check vacancy information from employers meets advert requirements;
4. To organise on campus external employer events;
5. To work closely with UWE’s Employability & Enterprise Zone;
6. To provide information to students on tax and National Insurance as appropriate;
7. To update policies and practices to comply with all legal requirements;
8. To act in accordance with the policies and procedures laid out in the Staff Handbook;
9. Any other reasonable duties as directed by the organisation.


Supervision and Work Planning:

  1. Occasional supervision of student staff.
  2. Day to day planning of tasks.

Education & Qualifications

  • Qualified to GCSE level
  • Numerate
  • Driving Licence

 

  • Relevant qualification or experience in the employment field

Experience

  • Confident in having face to face contact with students and employers on a daily basis
  • Marketing a service
  • Previous experience in a customer orientated environment, whether face to face or phone.
  • Employment sector  experience
  • Working with students

 

Skills & Knowledge

  • IT literate
  • Excellent administrative skills

  • Confident telephone manner
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customer
