Heading off to music festivals or summer holidays soon? Your SU wish you an incredible time while keeping safe!
A recent survey completed by Cardiff Met Students found that 69% of surveyed Cardiff Met Students have never used drugs during their time at University.
With this, 68% of respondents explicitly agree that taking drugs is not part of University culture. These metrics highlight that if you choose to stay drug-free this summer, you are surrounded by a network of students making the exact same choice.
Mixing substances does not enhance experiences; instead, combining chemicals multiplies the unpredictable danger to your heart, hydration levels, and long-term mental health.
Among survey respondents, 33% report regularly mixing cannabis with alcohol, and 33% mix powder cocaine with alcohol.
During the Summer, you should also look out for your friends!
10% of survey respondents reported experiencing spiking via drink or a needle. With this, 21% of survey respondents admitted to taking severe risks with their personal safety that they otherwise would not have under the influence.
Stay close, stick together and watch each other’s drinks!

These survey statistics reflect a smaller sample of our campus, rather than the entire student population, but these patterns exist regardless and represent real risks.
