The SU were pleased to celebrate GO Green Week in collaboration with various departments from around the University.

The SU held a stall in the atrium where we engaged with students and explained about the projects that SU are currently working on.

Hannah from TOTM joined us on the day, to run a competition to win a year’s subscription of  period care.  I am pleased to announce the winner was Kamaleswary Thavendran.

The TOTM workplace scheme gave us a simple solution to distributing period products for menstruating students and staff at Cardiff Met. Our ‘Dignity. Period!’ campaign was created to ensure that everyone who needs them has access to period products, protecting anyone at risk of period poverty.  It also opens conversations about periods, period poverty and menopause.  TOTM’s support for the campaign ensured that we had a wide range of organic and sustainable period products, from a recognised brand, available to the whole Cardiff Met community. The scheme has been really well received by our 12,000+ students.

Why TOTM? A Better Planter for you

“TOTM are an ethical, sustainable period care company.

There is No plastic packaging, no plastic applicators, no harmful chemicals and zero-waste reusables.

We’re fighting period plastic and waste with our organic cotton and reusable products, putting you and the planet first. In the UK alone, menstrual products generate 200,000 tonnes of waste every year. It’s time to tackle the staggering amount of plastic ending up in oceans and landfills.

Our tampons, pads, and liners are made with certified organic cotton. Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton is grown without toxic, synthetic pesticides and uses sustainable farming methods. Artificial chemicals and additives are not only damaging to the planet but can also disrupt the pH balance in your vagina.”

Should you want to find out more about their products please visit their webpage.

We will be running a menstrual cup workshop soon.
