My name is Mona. I am a final year Environmental Health student. This is my second year as a representative for my school and I can truly say this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time at the University.
The QED conference (Quality Enhancement Directorate) was a great learning opportunity. There was a very positive vibe as students got to work alongside, lecturers and professionals at the university to exchange ideas and participate in activities in order to enhance the student experience.
To add in a bit more fun to the week was the team building exercise “the escape rooms. It was so much fun working towards goals with people I had never met a week before. This event was a great choice and I absolutely loved it.
Freshers Week 16th-20th September 2019
I was super excited to be meeting all the excited new faces of the freshers on campus and at the fresher’s fayre. This is my absolute favourite week at the university as I watch new friendships being formed, laughter and memories made. Always remind me of myself and my first days here.
Freshers Fayre I walked onto the Cyncoed campus early on to all the excitement and buzz, although it was very early in the day. The student union stand was the focal
point of the exhibition and I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful it had turned out this year!
Having to give a tour of the Fayre to the vice-chancellor was an honour, it was a joy to watch her engage with all the different stands, as she gave time to take pictures with everyone and appreciate what everyone was doing. Gave me a sense of pride to be a party of an organization that truly values student voice.
The final day of the Freshers Fayre was the Met Fest. What a gorgeous day, the sun was shining, the music was playing, free pizza for everyone and the outdoor cinema showing some gorgeous movies such as The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia.
Preparing for the presentations for the new students, I ensured to keep it light and introduce the new students to their Union to the best of my ability so everyone can make maximum use of all the opportunities available to them from the start of their educational journey.
I can say this was the most Fun time I ever had in Uni in the past 3 years.. So many memories created in 1 week !
