Lecturer of the Year (x6 – CSAD, CSM, CST, CSSHS (Cyncoed & Llandaff), CSESP)

Judging Criteria: 

  • Demonstrates excellent teaching and communication skills

  • Provides clear, constructive, and timely feedback  

  • Shows enthusiasm and passion for their subject area  

  • Creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment  

 

Personal Tutor of the Year 

Award Information: 
This award celebrates personal tutors who provide exceptional pastoral and academic support. They play a vital role in guiding students through university life, offering advice, encouragement, and a listening ear when it matters most. 

Judging Criteria: 

  • Offers consistent and approachable support to students  

  • Provides helpful academic and personal guidance  

  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with tutees  

  • Is responsive, available, and proactive in offering help  

  • Supports student wellbeing and personal development  

 

Most Inspiring Staff Member 

Award Information: 
This award honours a staff member who has made a lasting impact on students through their encouragement, passion, and positivity. They inspire confidence, ambition, and a love for learning, often going the extra mile to uplift others. 

Judging Criteria: 

  • Motivates and inspires students to achieve their best  

  • Demonstrates passion, positivity, and commitment  

  • Makes a meaningful difference to students’ university experience  

  • Encourages confidence, growth, and ambition  

  • Goes above and beyond expectations  

 

Exceptional Support Award 

Award Information: 
This award recognises a staff member or team who has provided outstanding support to students, particularly during challenging times. Their dedication ensures students feel supported, valued, and able to succeed. 

Judging Criteria: 

  • Provides outstanding and consistent student support  

  • Responds effectively to student needs and challenges  

  • Demonstrates empathy, care, and understanding  

  • Goes the extra mile to ensure student success  

  • Makes a tangible positive impact on student wellbeing  

 

Welsh Language and Culture Award 

Award Information: 
This award celebrates individuals who actively promote and support the Welsh language and culture within the university community. They contribute to creating an inclusive environment where Welsh identity is valued and encouraged. 

Judging Criteria: 

  • Promotes the use of the Welsh language in teaching or student life  

  • Supports and celebrates Welsh culture and identity  

  • Encourages inclusivity for Welsh-speaking students  

  • Creates opportunities to engage with Welsh language/culture  

  • Demonstrates commitment to bilingualism or cultural awareness  

 

Professional Services Staff Member of the Year 

Award Information: 
This award recognises the outstanding contribution of Professional Services staff who play a vital role in supporting students and the wider university community. From administrative teams to technical specialists and student support services, these individuals help ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes while delivering an excellent student experience. 

Judging Criteria: 

  • Provides high-quality, reliable, and student-focused support  

  • Demonstrates professionalism, efficiency, and dedication in their role  

  • Contributes positively to the overall student experience  

  • Is approachable, responsive, and solution-focused  

  • Goes above and beyond to support students and/or colleagues

Nominations open on 17th April 2026 at 10:00AM. 

Nominations close on 15th May at 17:00PM. 

Nominees will be announced at the end of May, and the awards ceremony will be scheduled for summer, so watch this space!
