Today, Cardiff Met Students' Union have proudly signed the Time to Change Wales pledge. The Time to Change Wales pledge is a public declaration that Cardiff Met SU is committed to stepping up to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.
SU President, Bradley Woolridge says:
“Working with Time to Change Wales on the national campaign, we intend to reduce the stigma around mental health which prevents our students and staff accessing the help they need. By putting into place a plan of action we hope to create an environment on our campuses where mental health stigma has no place and to improve the provision of support for those who need it.
Some of the key elements in our Pledge Action plan include:
- Aiming to develop an open blog platform for contributions allowing students and staff to share their experiences about their mental health.
- Regularly reviewing our student campaigns to assess their impact and improve our actions around mental health and to challenge stigma.
- Developing a dedicated ‘wellness wall’ on our website – encouraging better access to information and support.
Cardiff Met SU feel passionate about ending the stigma which is so often seen around talking about mental health, and which is vital for our wellbeing. We see the pledge today as the first step to more open conversation about mental health with our students, staff and the organisations we support.”
