SU Sport Scholar Emily has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World University Shooting Championships in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia in March. We caught up quickly with Emily ahead of her BUCS National Finals this weekend around her GB selection.
To qualify for the World University Championships, Emily had one year to get the scores set by British Shooting and also to be able to show that you were able to maintain that standard as well. The score set was 410.0 which Emily achieved twice throughout last year, and also have achieved it twice already this year.
What are you most looking forward to the most whilst at the Championships?
There are many things I’m looking forward to at the Championships, one of the main things I would be looking forward to is the experience I would gain from shooting in such a different environment, as it will be my first competition outside of Europe which means I’ll have to adapt to the new surrounding because Malaysia is both very hot and humid. It is also 8 hours ahead of us in time zones which will be a new experience also.
I am feeling rather hopeful and positive about the Championship as both my training scores and competition scores seem to be improving, therefore I am aiming to make the final and with the hope of winning medal at the Championships.
What are you future aspirations?
To go to both the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics and also would love to medal at them both!
Best of Luck from everyone at SU Sport for your trip to Kuala Lumpar!
