Results

In total, 2673 students took part in our elections. This is a record breaking number of voters involved in our SU Elections. So Firstly, a big thank you to all of our candidates and students for taking part and ensuring your voices were heard. Below are the results! We use single transferrable voting - which means students could vote in order of preference. How we work out the results, is by setting a quota (total number of votes cast for a role divided by 2 and then you add one). If a candidate has not reached quota per round, we remove the candidate with the least votes and then re-distribute their second preference choice votes. We repeat this process untill a candidate reaches quota and they are elected.

Formal Notice

From Monday the 1st December 2025, you will be able to nominate yourself to Lead Cardiff Met via Cardiffmetsu.com/elections.

Every year, students elect 2 candidates to take on a full-time paid role, where they can make positive changes for the Cardiff Met University experience, build professional skills and earn upwards of £22,900 during your year in post.

The roles which are up for grabs are SU Activities & Communities President and SU Education & Welfare President. Regardless of your experience, our mission as an SU is to equip you with the skills and support you need to achieve your goals.

We offer training on how to write a manifesto and provide an overview of what the roles entail – check out the dates of these training sessions at cardiffmetsu.com/elections
