SU Experience & Inclusion President

The SU Experience & Inclusion President is the lead representative for engaging members in their available democratic processes within the SU. They seek to ensure that underrepresented student groups are fostered, supported and championed regarding university policy and decision making.  

They seek to ensure the university deploys equity in their service provision, and ensuring that the university experience (both academic and non) is flexible and responsive to the needs of its diverse array of learners, including supporting the experience of our students at our partner institutions.  

  • Oversee and support Student Networks, which formally represent the interests and needs of specific student groups.  

  • Oversee and support engagement from said student network groups with university policy and processes. 

  • Oversee and champion all democratic mechanisms within the students’ union, ensuring every student is aware and empowered to shape their SU. 

  • Oversee and champion the skills, employability, and personal development of the student body, encouraging leadership opportunities beyond societies and strengthening volunteering and civic engagement. 

  • Oversee and champion educating the memberships on their civil duties, engaging in local and national elections.  

  • Oversee and champion the ability for students at partner sites (TNE) to engage in co-design of curriculum content and feel confident in providing feedback.  

  • Oversee and champion gathering feedback from peers on the barriers and engagement to shaping change within the SU (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Liberation).  

  • Lead and Design campaigns which enhance the provision of the academic and social experience for identified student groups. 

  • Lead and empower our Student Officers in the design of work which celebrates and engages with marginalised student groups and providing wider education to our membership. 

  • Provide regular reports to the student membership on work undertaken on their behalf, keeping students informed and accountable by sharing updates on campaigns, representation work, and outcomes achieved. 

  • Chair the SU Forum, leading the student-facing governance of the Union, ensuring it operates responsibly, sustainably, and in the best interests of the student body. 

£22,900 per year - 35 hours a Week

(Please note the successful candidate will not hold employee status with the Students' Union but will receive a monthly bursary upon attendance of the SU Forum) 

 

 

£100 Bursary Per Month.  

 

School Representatives are required to submit a satisfactory report to the Students’ Unions Forum in order to receive their bursary. 

Post Commencement: 

1st September 2026

31st May 2027 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the team of Course Reps in your School and help make sure they’re supported. 

  • Share updates every month and attends Student Forum meetings to keep everyone in the loop. 

  • Help make real, positive changes for students in your School. 

  • Work with SU staff and the Vice-President Education to make sure student voices are heard. 

  • Talk to other students to gather their ideas, feedback, and concerns – then help make sure action is taken. 

  • Help create a fun and engaging School environment by supporting or running events. 

  • Represent students in key meetings at both School and University level. 

  • Be a friendly face of the SU – help raise awareness and encourage others to get involved. 

  • To act in accordance with the Students’ Unions byelaws and governing documents.

  • Someone who’s excited to take on this role and make the most of the opportunities it offers. 

  • A basic understanding of the Students’ Union and how student voice works at Cardiff Met. 

  • Great people skills – someone who can chat, listen, and communicate clearly. 

  • A team player who’s open-minded and ready to hear different views. 

  • Someone who’s happy to speak with fellow students to find out what matters to them. 

  • Confident sharing other students’ opinions and helping push for positive change. 

  • Must be a student enrolled at the Cardiff Metropolitan University for the academic year 26/27

  • Postgraduate Taught Students’ Officer 

  • Represents students studying at the PGT level. 

 

  • Disabled and Neurodiverse Students’ Officer 

  • Represents our disabled and neurodiverse students. 

 

  • Welsh Students’ Officer 

  • Represents our Welsh Speaking community and champions the Welsh languages use. 

 

  • LGBTQIA+ Students’ Officer 

  • Represents students who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community. 

 

  • International Students’ Officer 

  • Represents international students studying at cardiff met.  

 

  • Global Majority Students’ Officer 

  • Represents Black, Asian and other ethnicities which make up the global majority. 

 

 

SU Forum 

£100 monthly Bursary. 

 

Student Officers are required to submit a satisfactory report to the Students’ Unions Forum in order to receive their bursary.

  • Act as the lead student representative for your roles demographic group. 

  • To act as a voting member on the SU’s Forum, contributing to discussion and voting on student submitted items. 

  • To proactively seek feedback and input from your roles demographic group. 

  • To support and contribute to the SU’s equality and diversity work. 

  • To support and contribute to identified university committees which oversee policy or work affecting your roles demographic group. 

  • To act as an ambassador for the Students’ Union, supporting large events and actively informing members of the SU’s functions. 

  • To act in accordance with the Students’ Unions byelaws and governing documents. 

  • Must be a student enrolled at the Cardiff Metropolitan University for the academic year 26/27 

  • You must identify with the characteristics that the role relates to representing. (I.e you must be a Welsh Speaker to hold the Welsh Language Role or identify within the LGBTQIA+ community to hold the LGBTQIA+ students’ officer role.) 

  • Someone who’s excited to take on this role and make the most of the opportunities it offers.
