Travel Around Cardiff

Train

If you travel to Uni from home, then getting a rail card is a great decision. The city’s largest station is Cardiff Central which is in the heart of the city. There are linked train stations located at Cathays, Queen Street, and Llandaff that are within a short bus journey distance of campuses. If you choose to have a Santander student bank account, you will get a free 16-25 student rail card.

ovo / Next Bike

We really recommend using the OVO bike as it allows you to hire out bikes from lots of locations around Cardiff with the first 30 minutes of cycling being free for only £15 for the whole year + you can swap as many bikes for your free 30 minutes every day as you’d like!

Dragon Taxis

Safe Taxi Scheme - Exclusive to your Students’ Union is the Dragon Taxi’s Safe Taxi Scheme. Dragon Taxis have agreed with Cardiff Met SU that students can make emergency bookings on an account if required.

Walk

Cardiff is a small enough city that you can reach most places on foot and walking is a great way to explore your new home, as well as helping you stay healthy. Both of our campuses are within 20 minutes of the student communities/districts such as Roath, Cathays and Llandaff. There are some beautiful walking routes to campus through the Taff Trail, Bute Park, Roath Park, Pontcanna Fields and Llandaff Fields which are worth exploring during your time at Cardiff Met.
