We have held our annual SLTA awards night on 10th May. We were thrilled to be able to recognise the efforts and outstanding achievement of many of our staff. This year, we have re-worked some of the categories to not only recognise the teaching staff, but many support staff that on occasions teach, but importantly provide guidance and support to our students beyond the classroom.

 
Your Llandaff SU Relocation

Currently, the Students' Union occupies a large area of the top floor in P-Block. The University is in a position where they need to accommodate more students incoming in September, and want to convert the SU's current space into seminar rooms, along with the Centre for Entrepreneurship. The SU has been in talks with the university over new space on campus, that is visible and fit for purpose, and the university has offered us the Research and Innovation House.

Rainbow Laces Day

As an organisation we have been raising visibility and awareness for the LGBTQ+ community in sport for almost ten years, Rainbow Laces is committed to bringing visibility to the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in sport. On the 26th of October 2022, Cardiff Met showcased the rainbow laces, with all our teams that competed on this date getting involved. Cardiff Met SU Partner Event 2022

Cardiff Met SU hosted its annual Partner Event from the 28th of March to the 1st of April 2022.

Each year, we ask our 16 Transnational Partner institutions to select a student representative to attend. Our TNE (Transnational Education) partners consist of students studying a Cardiff Met programme at an institution around the globe.

As a young female leader, I feel there is a responsibility to create positive visibility of women, both within SU’s, the Higher Education sector and further afield. On 8th March 2016, 13 Cardiff Met students volunteered to clean a beach and in just one hour collected 21 bags of rubbish.

 
The way we register to vote is changing

Up to now, the head of a household has been responsible for registering everyone who lives at their address. People registering to vote in England, Scotland and Wales will now register as individuals instead, using a new, more secure system.

Volunteering helps Cardiff Met student gain full-time job

Alex Kay, a Cardiff Met graduate tells us how his volunteering experience helped him to get a full-time job. Yesterday The Cardiff Arms Park was the setting for an amazing victory for both the Cardiff Met Men and Women’s rugby teams. It was all part of the first annual Cassadian Cup which brought the 4 University teams within the Blues region together to take part in a Varsity in order to raise money for their respective teams.
